The Beatles Breakfast Club
was born out of the desire of several hard-core Beatles fans to spend more time with others who love the Beatles. The
first newsletter was written in February of 1997. Our first club event was held Wednesday, February 19th at Yesteryear's
Bar and Grill in Forest Park. There was four hours of Beatles music and a lot of Beatles door prizes. On Saturday, March 22, 1997, the BBC
members went to the Taft Theater to see "1964 The Tribute". This was the first Beatles Tribute Band that most of the
club members had ever seen. After the show several members handed out flyers about
the club and met at a restaurant in Kentucky to mingle with more Beatlemaniacs.
On
Saturday, April 12, 1997, we had a Beatles Bash at Captain Bley's. "The Remains" provided Beatles music for the evening and many members danced the night away. We
sold Beatles Breakfast Club mugs and had a raffle and the winners won a wide variety of Beatles stuff. We were happy
we'd had another successful BBC event! In the spring, Vice President Debbie Johnson resigned because it was taking up so much of her time. On Sunday, June 1, 1997, the Beatles Breakfast Club invaded Media Play in Western Hills
to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper. There was Beatles music throughout Media Play provided
by "The Remains". The
club had an official BBC table displaying our BBC mugs and BBC membership forms.
The annual Beatlefest was held on the second weekend in August in 1997 at the Chicago Hyatt Hotel. This
event features three days of Beatles everything! For most members this was a first
and it was unbelievable! It was Beatles Heaven! My favorite place was the Market Place where you could buy almost-endless
Beatles stuff from fifty cents on up! There was a Beatles puppet show, trivia games, sing-a-longs everywhere
and special guests. It was a tremendously exciting weekend for all of us and
it is safe to say that a good time was had by all! Every
August there is an annual Magical Mystery Tour in London and Liverpool. It costs around $2,500.00 to attend from the
United States. Starting in the April Newsletter a monthly article was written about the London/Liverpool '99 trip stating
that if one saves $3.00 a day for 852 days then there would be enough money to pay for the trip, food and souvenirs.
(14 members succeeded in this goal and enjoyed the trip of a lifetime - A dream come true!
It just proves that if you set a goal, you CAN reach it!) On Saturday, October 11, 1997, the members went to The Wedge Inn on Colerain. Jacuzzi Bell was the guest DJ for the evening
playing Beatles music. The November
Newsletter was the first newsletter cover to have a drawing of the Beatles by Dan Maurice. David Rauh did a drawing
for the club event at the Shady Lawn Inn. The picture on the cover showed the drummer playing with Turkey legs on drums
that said "BBC: The Remains". On Saturday, November 1st, we held a membership
drive at Walden Books in Tri-County Shopping Center in the afternoon. On
Wednesday Novembers 26th, the Beatlemaniacs invaded Shady Lawn Inn in Bridgetown. Many people danced to "The
Remains" as they played all our favorite Beatles tunes.. The place was packed with a
line out the door. A good time was had by all! Throughout the
year, there were many meetings for the Officers and the Board of Directors. Some of the meetings were held at Media
Play in Florence, Kentucky. Others were at various places depending on the projects that were being worked on such as
the newsletters, planning events, etc. It was a very busy year for all of us! Many new friendships were forming.
